Rwandan military officers are arming and supporting a Congolese war crimes suspect.
General Bosco Ntaganda, leader of the National Congress for the Defence of the People, is “wanted by the International Criminal Court for recruiting and using child soldiers,” according to Voice of America (June 5, 2012). There are many reports he is still kidnapping young men and boys to fight in his army. He is also wanted by the ICC on charges of murder, persecution, rape, sexual slavery, and pillaging (May 16, 2012, Human Rights Watch).
According to HRW, Ntaganda has been allowed into Rwanda and supplied with weapons, ammunition and recruits, to support his mutiny in Democratic Republic of Congo. This action also goes against the United Nations Security Council arms embargo on the country as well as breaking UNSC sanctions, which state that he mustn’t travel outside Congo
